One of my favourite bluesman ! Listen to his voice ! awesome Willie King was born in Prairie Point, MS, in 1943. He's only recently come to the attention of a national audience. Willie sets himself apart from other blues musicians by addressing topical and political issues in his songwriting. King's "Freedom Creek" debuted for the Rooster Blues label in 2000. The album was acclaimed by critics worldwide, and received awards from Living Blues Magazine for Best Male Blues Artist (2001), Best Blues Album (2000) and Best Contemporary Blues Album (2000). Willie has just released a new documentary DVD with about 40 minutes of music on it, this is available from his website. This is number 6 in a series of thirteen 60-second films produced, directed, written and edited by Robert Mugge for Mississippi Public Broadcasting. The host and music director is Steve Cheseborough.
